entry#9-media synthesize...
With the Internet being such a big place, it can be very easy to fall for misleading information. There are actually a lot of things which I have paid more attention to like fake news, consumerism, and also how social media can affect someone's mental health.
The biggest thing I've noticed regarding media is that it is rare when news outlets and articles give out information without bias or opinion. Even the tone of an article can point to the position the author may be taking. To decide what articles are reliable one needs to look at the publishers and authors of those articles. Although we may know what position we take it is easy to be influenced by news outlets we have watched for years. Some of these incidents I've noticed have actually occurred recently. With TikTok around, people can easily share their opinions on certain issues worldwide. These videos provide information which allow people to make their own decisions regarding those issues, and I believe that is very important for society as a whole. I think everyone agrees that TikTok has made it easy for people to know what is going on around the world, so in my opinion the whole "ban" will limit that for a lot of people.
Regardless of the videos and articles, I believe it's important to do your own research before making a decision, especially now that we have plenty of information at the tips of our fingers.
Hi Abigail! I agree that being wary of what to trust online is very important. If not, it can lead to biased opinions and unfair treatment of others. I think topic is very important.
